The Preparation for
Total Consecration for Families book will take you and your family
through 40 days of readings,
meditations and prayers that will help you prepare and
live your total consecration to Jesus through Mary in union with St.
Joseph. The first 33 daily reading
meditations include an excerpt
from one of Pope John Paul II's
major documents and from St. Louis
de Montfort's writings on the Blessed Virgin
Mary. Daily Scripture selections, prayers such
as the Family Rosary and
examination of conscience exercises are also included.
On the 34th day, you are guided to make your Act of Consecration according
to St. Louis de Montfort. The remaining 6 days of reading meditations reinforce
the message in a practical way for family life. This resource
also includes schedules on when to
start your preparation, the entire catechism on True Devotion and St.
Louis' Secret of Mary.
St. Louis Marie de Montfort
tells us that "those who desire to take up this special devotion (Total
Consecration to Jesus through Mary) should spend at least twelve days emptying
themselves of the spirit of the world, which is opposed to the spirit of Jesus. Then
they should spend three weeks imbuing themselves with the Spirit of Jesus
through the most Blessed Virgin." It is obvious that this total
consecration or perfect renewal of our baptismal vows with and through Mary is
not to be taken lightly.
John Paul
II had made this De Montfort Consecration himself and it changed
his life. Speaking of True
Devotion to Mary by St. Louis de Montfort, he
said that "reading this book was to be a turning point in my
life...This Marian devotion...has since remained a part of me."
