Examine your conscience.
Be sorry for your sins; try to have a perfect sorrow (sorrow for offending our all-loving God, rather than merely fearing His just punishment). Make an
act of contrition
before going to confession.
Make a firm resolution not to sin again and to avoid the occasions of sin.
Tell your sins to a priest and receive absolution (all mortal sins must be confessed).
Perform your penance promptly.
