“Catholic Parents must strive to
follow and repeat, within the setting of family life the more methodical
teaching received elsewhere. The fact that these truths about the main
questions of faith and Christian living are thus repeated within a family
setting impregnated with love and respect will often make it possible to
influence the children in a decisive way for life.” John Paul II
Family Catechesis is
a three year systematic weekly multimedia catechetical and evangelization
program for families in the home and adults in the parish.
It is designed to empower parents to fulfill their calling as the
primary educators of the faith to their children and to witness to
the value of the gift of faith in their lives. The program complements the
Consecration
in Truth Catechetical Series for schools and parishes or any other
religious education program.
Family Catechesis is
the foundational phase of what is intended to be an ongoing Consecration in Truth
formation program for families and adults in the parish.

Because ‘family catechesis precedes, accompanies
and enriches all other forms of catechesis’ (Catechesi Tradendae,
68),
I encourage the Apostolate for Family
Consecration in its efforts to promote an effective
catechesis in homes and parishes.”
- Pope John Paul
