Alone with God Silent Retreat FAQs

Q: What is the purpose of the Alone with God Silent Retreat and what will we be doing?
A:  The purpose of the retreat is to provide a special time for you to be set apart from your everyday life, to focus on your relationship with Jesus and to be strengthened in your faith and love for Him. Some of the activities include Eucharistic Adoration, Spiritual Direction, daily Mass, Confession, reflection time…
Q: How “Silent” is this Retreat?
A:  Silence begins immediately following the opening mass on Thursday evening and will end after Sunday mass. During the retreat there is no talking outside of Mass, vocal prayers, confession and spiritual guidance.
Q: What is the schedule on Thursday?
A:  Registration is 3:00 pm to 4:45 pm. Informal dinner starts at 5:00pm and the opening Mass will begin at 7:30pm followed by a Holy Hour, Confession, and Benediction.
Q: What time does it end on Sunday?
A:  The retreat concludes with 9am Mass on Sunday followed by Brunch.
Q: What do we do for meals?
A: All meals will be provided. This includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks & beverages.
Q: What kind of food will be available?
A: For breakfast we’ll have food such as eggs, cereal, yogurt, fruit, and bagels. For lunch–salad, sandwiches or soup, chips, fruit. Dinner –pasta, salad, fruit, beef or chicken, etc.  Included each day are snacks as well and various desserts and hot/cold drinks.
Q: What if I have food allergies? Will my meals still be provided?
A: We will do our best to accommodate your dietary needs. If you have specific dietary needs, these must be indicated on your registration form. The registration team will notify you if we are unable to accommodate your needs in which case you would be asked to bring your own meals, snacks, etc. If you have unusual dietary restrictions then we may not be able to satisfy your needs. Please email if you have any additional questions.
Q: Where will we be staying?
A: You will be staying in one of our retreat rooms here on the grounds. Please note that there will be common bathrooms down or across the hall and it is therefore advisable to bring easily portable toiletries and slippers.
Q: Is there transportation for those who are flying in?
A: Yes, a shuttle service will be available for a $10 fee. Arrival pick-up will be at 3:00pm on Thursday. Departure drop-off will leave Catholic Familyland on Sunday at 12:30pm and arrive at the airport at approximately 1:30pm.
Q: How much does the Retreat cost and what is included?
A:  Registration is $249.
Q: What is included?
A:  This includes 8 meals, snacks and beverages, 3 nights lodging, linens (including towels), and all retreat materials (including a notebook and pen).
Q: What should I bring?
A: -Bible
-Alarm Clock
-Casual clothing
-Jackets, Gloves, hat, ear warmers etc. (it is winter here in Ohio)
-Warm Sweatpants / Sweatshirts / Hoodies
-Extra socks
-Hiking boots or some kind of waterproof shoes for outdoor hiking
-Regular/Tennis shoes to have on while indoors during the retreat
-Slippers for trips to the common bathrooms (the floors are cold)
-Toiletries and something to carry your toiletries in (common shower/bathroom area-just down the hall from your room)
Q: How do I get Spiritual Direction? 
A:  There will be sign-up sheets available for Spiritual Direction with one of our priests.
Q: How do I register?
