January begins the new year and my second full month of work in the AFC. I am pleased to tell you that we are making tremenndous progress in areas that, although behind the scenes, will establish a platform for us to move forward with clarity in our mission. I also want to thank God and all of you personally for helping us make the incredible financial goal of $750,000 by year end. This has given all of us a real sense of hope.
Building Families of Faith Campaign - Goal Achieved-Whew!

We made it! Thanks be to God and the Holy Family- for their mercy - and to each of you who have given, prayed and sacrificed so generously for families through the AFC! A little over 50% of the remaining $455,000 needed by year end came from donations. 25% came through the Will of a long time benefactor who passed away. He always supported the Catholic family and believed that holiness in the family would transform society. May he rest in peace! The remaining 25% came from timbering we had done on the property.

AFC Marches for Life on January 25th

A holocaust of epic proportions: 40 years, 55 million dead and hundreds of millions wounded by abortion. Not only do people ignore the devastating spiritual impact of abortion, few consider how it ravages our economy through worker absenteeism (because of the physical & emotional issues caused by abortion) and absent workers - those millions of persons God sent to the world who would have contributed to the economy. None of these issues entered the public debate over the economy and the funding of social security during our November elections.

As faithful Catholic families, we sway public opinion by speaking against abortion and standing for life. The truth and goodness of life, created, sustained and redeemed by our loving God is great news. Regardless of how people respond to you, trust that this truth does attract men’s hearts!

Members of the Apostolate’s Catholic Corps men’s and women’s communities

as well as from the year-round Alumni Corps will be marching for life in Washington DC. If you see us there, be sure to say hello or march with us.

Check out this inspirational video about the March for Life made by Blackstone Films. It was produced by John-Andrew O’Rourke in collaboration with Tom Shannon, both sons of Apostolate families.

We would like to invite you to join members of our Catholic Corps communities as well as our year round Alumni Corps as they march for life in Washington D.C.

If you're interested feel free to meet up with them Friday, January 25th at Noon on Madison Avenue in front of the Natural History Museum.

For those who are unable to attend in person please join us in praying on January 25th for an end to abortion, euthanasia and all crimes that violate the sanctity of life.

Many Thanks and Farewell to Bob Kocisko & Mary Beth Scozzare
After many years of devoted service, Catholic Corps 2nd degree members, Bob Kocisko and Mary Beth Scozzare, are each moving on: Bob to a new discernment among the laity and Mary Beth to discernment with an order. We extend our warmest wishes and heartfelt gratitude for their love, commitment, friendship and sacrifices. Their smiles and presence will be missed, as they have touched our lives and those of so many families. We are better people because they have walked among us! Please keep them in your prayers.

Bishops call for 9 Days of Prayer, Penance & Pilgrimage - Jan 19th-27th

Thank the Lord that our Bishops are leading us to rise up and shatter the stranglehold of the culture of death. Jesus told us to follow our bishops when He said: “Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me.” Luke 10:16 Remember the Bishops in your daily family prayers. Read their words to your family and lead your family in following them. Go to for more information.

Bishops lay out 5-Point Strategy to Defend Life, Marriage & Religious Liberty

From the Feast of the Holy Family, December 30, 2012 through the

Feast of Christ the King, November 24th, 2013, our bishops have asked for the following:
  • Monthly Eucharistic Holy Hours
  • Daily Rosary by families and individuals
  • Prayers of the Faithful
  • Fasting and abstinence
  • Fortnight for Freedom in June/July 2013
Our founder, Jerry Coniker, has been encouraging families for over 37 years to make Eucharistic holy hours, pray the daily rosary, take time to pray deeply, and repair for sin through the faithful fulfillment of our daily and religious duties - including the duty to evangelize. What a joy to see the Bishops recommending these sublime practices that will transform humanity! Let us be filled with great hope! More info at

Termites, Car Troubles & New Beds

Our mission in the Philippines is self-funded. However, Conchit has reported that they were blessed with some extra reparation this month and she is asking for your generous help. Termite infestations were discovered in different locations at their center, and they need to pay for treatment and repairs. Also, their car is unsafe and needs repairs.

Our Catholic Corps (CC) consecrated celibate communities labor for the renewal of families through their jobs at the center in Ohio as well as through their daily prayers for us. These prayers form a vanguard of protection for families and pour out many graces upon the whole Mystical Body of Christ. For some time, they have needed new beds. One of the CC women had been using a bed she obtained in junior high! Given the current state of worn out beds that they’ve been enduring for years, it’s time we buy beds that allow them to focus their reparation activities more on their apostolic work than on their nocturnal penances.

Please consider these areas of extra need when you make your donations this month.

I will end by recalling the power of our Consecration as revealed through the prophecy of St Louis DeMontfort: "...towards the end of the world, ...Almighty God and His holy Mother are to raise up saints who will surpass in holiness most other saints as much as the cedars of Lebanon tower above little shrubs. These great souls filled with grace and zeal will be chosen to oppose the enemies of God who are raging on all sides. They will be exceptionally devoted to the Blessed Virgin.”

On behalf of the staff here at Catholic Familyland and United in the Holy Family,
