A blessed June to you all! We celebrate the Feasts of Corpus Christi, the Most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart. This is also a special month for the Apostolate for Family Consecration (AFC), which celebrates its founding, 38 years ago, and the passing into eternity of one our founders, Gwen Coniker. Please pray for the families attending the Holy Family Fests, starting June 15th, as we seek to lead them further along the path to holiness through this powerful Family Consecration way of life.

Citywide Consecration Retreat in Steubenville Ohio Uses AFC Resources

Pentecost Sunday saw the conclusion of a citywide consecration retreat in Steubenville, Ohio. The retreat was conducted by AFC members Deacon Randall Redington and his wife Mary Ellen, with the cooperation of Rev. Father Thomas Nau, pastor of Triumph of the Cross Parish. Titled “The Spirit and Bride Cry, Come,” the program made extensive use of AFC prayer books and multi-media resources.

Holy Family Adventure Weekend- a Success!

This past Memorial Day Weekend at the Ave Maria Retreat Center in Danville, Illinois, 35 families (180 people) experienced faith, family and fun in a setting bonded together by the love of the Holy Family. There was a special rosary walk around the lake, led by “St. Joan of Arc” riding on horseback (depicted by Melissa Marter). Several talks were delivered by Justin Fatica from the Hard as Nails Ministry (HANM) presenting his classic, hard-hitting teen program accompanied by the sacrament of confession.
Nationally-recognized chastity speaker, Patti Schneier, addressed the teens and parents on the Theology of the Body. She clearly explained that real love is Free, Total, Faithful and Fruitful- all else is a counterfeit!

May 2013 Benefit Dinner

Thanks be to God and to our Members in Independence OH, in particular, Mark and Christi Tripodi, the Benefit Dinner was a blessing for all those who attended and for the AFC. Dr. Scott Hahn delivered a powerful message on "Family Consecration". He is making his way through the AFC’s Preparation for Total Consecration book and called it a real treasure. He gave an awesome and humbling endorsement of the AFC and its mission of Family Consecration.

"What a joy to gather with Kimberly and three of our sons at a banquet hosted by the
Apostolate for Family Consecration, one of the finest Catholic organizations in the world, which honored us with their 'Pope John Paul II Family Fidelity Award'"

- Dr. Scott Hahn

AFC Families in Carmel, Indiana, Join Together for Monthly Campfire Rosary

AFC families at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carmel, Indiana, have started the tradition of a Monthly Campfire Rosary open to Catholic families, clergy and religious. The family-friendly atmosphere includes a playground for the children and an opportunity for adults to visit with old friends and meet new friends.
Families can share an evening meal by bringing a picnic dinner or hot dogs to roast on the campfire. There’s also a shelter available so the Family Rosary can be prayed, rain or shine.

Membership: New Commitments and Catholic Corps Life

This last month, 7 men and women made Disciple Membership commitments in the Apostolate for Family Consecration: 2 First Degree Member commitments, 3 Second Degree commitments and 2 Life commitments. Our family is strengthened by your commitments as we labor to build families of faith by consecrating them to the Holy Family and in the truths of our Catholic Faith!

Renee Scheu’s Life Commitment is scheduled for September 7, 2013, vigil of Our Lady’s Birthday! The 2nd oldest in a family of 5 girls, Renee has served as a Catholic Corps member since 2001. She recently wrote, “I felt God calling me during one of the Family Fests’ adoration night. While praying I asked: ‘What is Your Will for me? Am I called to the Catholic Corps or the Marriage vocation?’ I felt strongly that He wanted me to serve Him through the Catholic Corps. My desire for life is to do God’s Will alone, and never my own will, to be pleasing to Him and to bring as many souls to Him as possible.”

Product of the Month: History Speaks, The Original 13 (states)
Join William J Federer in this phenomenally insightful 8-hour series, as he expounds upon the religious foundations of American government. His delivery is engaging as he deftly draws upon state constitutions and the writings of the American forefathers to unveil their clear intent to enshrine Religious Liberty as a prerequisite for any possibility of self-governance.

“Mr Federer makes history come alive! His explanations are so clear and easy to follow.” -a busy father

Catholic Corps Women Need a Car Following an Accident

One of our Catholic Corps Women was in an accident recently. While she was not injured (nor was anyone else), the 2001 Honda she was driving was totaled. The CC Women are in need of a road-worthy, low-mileage replacement car for use in their ministries. If you have such a vehicle, and are willing to donate it to the AFC, please contact  for further information on making this tax-deductible donation.

A Reflection from One of Our Founders:

“Our desire is to help families become strong in the gift of our Catholic faith through study (formation) and prayer and then share our faith with others...It is a great joy to be in the ministry of serving families. Thank you for your part in bringing about the reign of Christ!”
-Gwen Coniker, Founder with Jerry of the Apostolate for Family Consecration

Thank you again for your love and support of the AFC! We are very pleased with the new ministry outreaches that the Holy Spirit is leading us to and confirming for us. We will be sharing more about these in the coming months.

I offer another powerful quote from Blessed John Paul II that reiterates the goal of the AFC - to build holy families through the Holy Family:

"The Holy Family is the beginning of countless other holy families."
~ Blessed Pope John Paul II
