A blessed feast of the Assumption of Mary and also the Queenship of Mary to you and your family! Referred to as “our tainted nature’s solitary boast“, Mary exercises her royal privilege of forming humanity into the image of her Son.

We are approaching the end of our last Holy Family Fest for the summer. Based on the feedback from many folks, I believe the first-time festers were well pleased with their experience at Familyland. We not only provide them with a family-friendly Catholic vacation, but, more importantly, with an opportunity to be united as a family with our Lord. Families go home with a shift in their lives that creates the desire to live a little holier than they did when they arrived.

Philippine Bishops Battle Culture of Death using Consecration Formula!

Filipino Bishops are leading the charge to oppose a sinister legislative bill called the Reproductive Health Mandate. This bill, which passed through their country’s congress, mandates sex education in schools and subsidizes contraceptives. Currently, it is held up due to lawsuits.

What weapon did the Bishops deploy against this threat? Consecration!

On June 8, 2013, the Bishops consecrated their country to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. They wrote a letter to all 2000 parishes to join them in making the consecration. Included in that letter was a request for all parishes to use the Apostolate’s Filipino Family Catechism!

The Bishops are invoking the second aspect of the Consecration formula, Consecration in Truth -learning the faith, because it increases the value and power of a life lived fully for Jesus through Mary.

They are instituting on a national scale the very formula that Blessed John Paul II, St. Louis De Montfort, St.  Maximilian Kolbe, Jerry Coniker and others have heralded as the plan for our times to conquer the culture of death and build the civilization of life & love!

Starting Monday August 19th, you are invited to receive The Apostolate's Family Catechism Daily Emails. When you subscribe to this free service (click here to sign up), you will receive an email each day that will include one question/answer from the Apostolate's Family Catechism along with video of Francis Cardinal Arinze answering the question, a related image and cross reference links to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Sacred Scripture and Church documents. This will continue for 304 consecutive days, to cover the entire Apostolate's Family Catechism, consisting of 304 questions and answers!

Phenomenal Stories coming from Families who “Put God to the Test” ( Mal 3:10)
This summer families have been challenged to “put God to the test” by giving generously to advance the AFC’s mission to inspire families to great sanctity. Here is one of the amazing testimonies that are coming from these heroic acts of faith:

My husband and I have been coming to Catholic Familyland for about 20 yrs. My husband is a high school teacher, and I work part time as a nurse. We have 6 children, 3 in college. In December, we took in my husband’s parents. I haven’t been working my one day a week, because they cannot be left alone.
It seems like every June for the last 6 years, I’m trying to figure out how we’re going to pay the down payment for the first semester of our children’s college. We were moved, however, by the spirit of Jesus and His most Holy Mother to give to the Apostolate. Last week we wrote a check for $1000.00 on Friday. One week later, we received a check for $2000.00 in the mail from a 20 yr old investment that had been forgotten about. Forget the stock market, invest in the Kingdom!!!

Their experience proves God’s word to be trustworthy when it says “God can multiply His favors among you so that you may always have enough of everything and even a surplus for good works.” 2 Cor 9:8

Product of the Month: Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity

Join Cardinal Francis Arinze as he explores in depth the Second Vatican Council's Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity.

This document redefines the role of lay people in the Church, recognizing their unique responsibilities as baptized Catholics in the proclamation of the Good News and the living out of Gospel values in the world. You'll be inspired by the practical application of the laity's apostolic mission in the workplace, in the performance of the corporal works of mercy and in cooperation with other Christians and people of good will. You'll see how young people can work with their peers and the importance of proper training for the lay apostolate, as well as the role of family catechesis. 3.5 hours.

Mexico Center coordinates 2 Parish Missions - “Miraculous”
Father Hugh Gillespie gave extraordinary missions at two parishes near our center. Both parish priests were initially very skeptical about parishioners attending the weeklong evening mission talks and devotions. However, they were willing to give it a try. They could not believe that so many people participated, even quite a few men and young people! One of them stated several times that this was a ‘miracle’.

The center also hosted a weekend family retreat with about 80 people. These families have been coming to our events for 2 years and want to persevere and keep growing. We will follow up with the two mission parishes and also with the retreat families to encourage them to meet regularly in their own parishes.

Reflections from Our Founders:
We know God calls us to praise and thank Him for His love and faithfulness. God doesn't want the burdens of life to crush our joy. Instead, He calls us to come to Him when we are burdened and weary so that He can give us rest and refreshment.
-Gwen Coniker

The message of hope is that we all can do something. We all can become instruments of atonement and be responsible for saving people's souls that we'll never know until we're with the Lord...the merits that will come from our soul will repair for sins and take that power away from the devil.
-Jerry Coniker

I end with St. Maximilian Kolbe’s words which remind us of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s powerful influence upon the future of humanity:

“Let us pray that the Immaculata becomes the Queen of the world as soon as possible, because there are still so many pagans and so many sinners all around. With her help… we are prepared for everything, but only with her help, because by ourselves, we cannot do anything."

Thank you again for your prayers & support!

On behalf of the staff here at Catholic Familyland and United in the Holy Family,

Alan Zimmerer, President
